The GlenDronach distillery, founded in 1826 by James Allardice, has a long tradition of whisky-making. The GlenDronach Port Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky was inspired by the historic importation of port wine in casks to Scotland in the 19th century. In the 1800s, port was of great significance in Scotland, particularly amongst the Scottish aristocracy. The finest ports travelled along the River Douro from Portugal to Scotland and had a lasting influence on the whisky tradition.

GlenDronach Port Wood is initially matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks before undergoing further maturation in port casks that previously held the finest port for three years. This whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured with additives, which preserves its natural purity and the deep, fruity complexity of its aromas.

The combination of these cask types gives GlenDronach Port Wood its characteristic depth and complexity, which whisky connoisseurs around the world appreciate.

Nose: Plums, blackberries, strawberries, cherry blossom, sandalwood, ginger.
