Founded in 1798, the Tobermory Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries and is situated in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Since its foundation, it has endured turbulent times, with numerous changes of ownership and production stoppages. In 1993, Burn Stewart Distillers took over the distillery, which was sold to the South African Distill Group in 2013. In March 2017, production was halted once again to carry out refurbishment work. Despite these challenges, Tobermory remains an important part of the Scottish whisky tradition.

The Tobermory Distillery plans to resume production in the summer of 2019, following a hiatus of around two years, and is celebrating this occasion with the new Tobermory 12 Year Old. During the closure, Tobermory restructured its range and carried out refurbishment and renovation work.

In addition to expanding the range to include gin, the new Tobermory 12 Year Old was developed, which is set to become the distillery’s new flagship product. These measures are intended not only to increase production capacity but also to improve the quality and variety of the products on offer.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light amber.

Nose: Brown sugar, pears, peaches, apples, cinnamon, barley.

Palate: Malty, oily, sweetish, fruity.

Finish: Long-lasting, dates, orange peel, toffee.
