Der Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Honivogl Smaragd 2023 zählt zu den bedeutendsten und renommiertesten Weißweinen Österreichs. Er stammt aus der ikonischen Einzellage Honivogl in Spitz an der Donau – einem der Filetstücke des Weinguts Franz Hirtzberger. Die steilen Terrassen auf Urgesteinsverwitterungsböden und Löss bieten eine einmalige Kombination aus Wärme, Struktur und Mineralität, was dem Wein seine unverkennbare Tiefe und Komplexität verleiht.
Als Vertreter der höchsten Wachauer Qualitätsstufe Smaragd ist dieser Grüner Veltliner kraftvoll, vielschichtig und enorm lagerfähig. Der Ausbau erfolgt traditionell im Edelstahltank und teils im großen Holzfass, um Struktur und Langlebigkeit zu fördern. Die Lese erfolgt selektiv per Hand, mit größter Präzision – das Ergebnis ist ein Ausnahmewein mit regionalem Charakter und internationalem Format. Mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 14 % Vol. zeigt sich dieser Jahrgang besonders ausgewogen und finessenreich, ohne an Tiefe einzubüßen.
Der Honivogl Smaragd ist ein Aushängeschild für die Stilistik des Hauses Hirtzberger und für das Potenzial der Rebsorte Grüner Veltliner. Er gehört zu den meistgesuchten Weißweinen der Wachau und genießt auch international höchstes Ansehen. Tasting notes:
Im Glas zeigt sich der Wein in leuchtendem Goldgelb mit grünlichen Reflexen. In der Nase präsentiert er sich mit einem komplexen Bukett aus reifem gelbem Apfel, Honigmelone, weißem Pfeffer, rauchigen Anklängen und feiner Kräuterwürze. Am Gaumen ist der Wein kraftvoll, tiefgründig und präzise, mit feiner Mineralität, gut eingebundener Säure und einem langen, salzig-würzigen Nachhall. Trotz seiner Intensität wirkt er niemals schwer, sondern stets balanciert und elegant.
Ein Wein für große Momente und gehobene Küche. Perfekt zu gegrilltem oder gebratenem Kalb, Steinpilzgerichten, geschmortem Geflügel, Meeresfrüchten mit Buttersauce, Trüffelgerichten oder asiatisch inspirierten Speisen mit Tiefe und Schärfe. Auch solo als Meditationswein ein Genuss.
