Tea with a shot is a classic hot beverage everyone knows. But today, we're showing you what other hot cocktails there are and how to make them.
Which Tea Goes with Which Spirit?
You don't always have to reach for rum when you want to make tea with a shot. Even though the classic "tea with rum" is still extremely popular today and is a must-have in any alpine hut during the cold season, many more spirits can be used to mix with different types of tea to create delicious alcoholic hot beverages.
Just like when creating and preparing dishes, certain ingredients go better together than others. This applies to both the choice of tea and the desired spirit.
If you opt for gin , whisky or rum to create winter hot cocktails, these can be ideally combined with fruity teas. Excellent varieties for this would be, for example, lemon, rooibos, hibiscus, and rosehip tea, which are characterized by a strong, fruity aroma that masks the sometimes somewhat bitter taste of the alcohol.
If you enjoy tea with a shot, you can also opt for liqueurs . These are particularly well suited after extensive winter walks to recharge your batteries and warm your body from the inside out.
If you would like to create hot cocktails with tea that are also healthy, we recommend classic Earl Grey tea, as well as chamomile tea, which can be used for great winter cocktails. For hot alcoholic beverages, you should, of course, always use first-class ingredients to ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your hot beverage.
Tips for enhancing your winter hot drinks
Would you like to give your cocoa with rum or tea-rum drink a new twist? Then try one of the following ingredients to enhance hot cocktails or bring out existing nuances.
- For example, you can mix honey with water to make your own syrup, which you can then mix with alcoholic beverages.
- Ginger (lemonade) is not only healthy but also gives your hot drink a sharp note that enhances the warming effect of the alcohol.
- A few dashes of orange bitters are often enough to achieve a great effect and perfectly round off a hot drink.
- Mint has a calming effect and is therefore well suited for hot drinks that are consumed in the evening or before going to bed. To fully develop the taste, you should use intensely flavored mint varieties such as Moroccan or Turkish mint.

As you can see, it doesn't always have to be the classic tea with rum to provide some warmth during the cold season. It's already cold – so all you have to do is turn on the oven and try one (or more) of our recipes. We wish you good luck and enjoy!
