Averna is still produced today in Caltanissetta, in the heart of Sicily, according to a closely guarded original recipe dating from 1868. The Campari Group is responsible for production and quality, preserving the traditional character whilst ensuring international availability. This Sicilian amaro is created through the careful infusion of selected herbs, roots and spices, which are blended with the essential oils of bitter oranges and lemons until the flavour and aroma reach their characteristic intensity.
