The Mount Gay 1703 XO Triple Cask Blend 43% vol. 0.7 l + GB is a fine premium bottling from the Caribbean island of Barbados and is one of the best-known rums from the historic Mount Gay Distillery, which, having been in operation since 1703, is considered the world’s oldest rum distillery still in operation. With the XO Triple Cask Blend, Mount Gay combines centuries-old expertise with modern cask management to create a rum that impresses with its depth, elegance and harmony.


It is produced from a combination of pot-still and column-still rums, which are aged in tropical climates for between 5 and 17 years. Three different types of cask are used for ageing: ex-bourbon casks, American whisky casks and Oloroso sherry casks. This ‘Triple Cask Blending’ lends the XO its complexity and depth. With an alcohol content of 43% vol., it is full-bodied, rounded and, at the same time, powerful. The elegant gift box (GB) emphasises its premium character and makes it particularly attractive as a present for rum lovers.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Intense and rich, with vanilla, toffee, ripe fruit, dark chocolate and spicy oak.

Palate: Complex and full-bodied, characterised by caramel, toasted nuts, sherry spice, dried fruit and a subtle hint of leather.

Finish: Long-lasting, velvety and well-balanced, with an elegant combination of sweetness and oaky spice.


The Mount Gay XO Triple Cask Blend reveals its flavours best when enjoyed neat in a nosing glass or with a few drops of water, which further enhance its complexity. Culinary, it pairs superbly with dark chocolate, strong cheeses, and desserts featuring caramel or dried fruit. It is also an excellent choice as an accompaniment to a medium-strength cigar or as a luxurious digestif after a festive meal.
