Description
The Dead Rabbit Irish Whisky 44% ABV 0.7l online kaufen
The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey 44% is a characterful blended Irish whiskey, the result of a collaboration between The Dublin Liberties Distillery in Dublin and the renowned New York bar, The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog. The blend combines carefully selected malt and grain whiskies, which are first matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks. This maturation period provides a smooth foundation with classic notes of vanilla, caramel and oak. The specific Irish distilleries that originally produced the distillates used are not disclosed. Instead, the focus is on the deliberate blending of different whisky styles to create a balanced, modern Irish blend.
The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey derives its distinctive character from a subsequent finish in small virgin oak casks, which were specially crafted for this bottling. The fresh oak enhances the spicy structure and complements the soft bourbon cask notes with hints of cedar, toasted nuances and added depth. With an alcohol content of 44 per cent, the whisky has sufficient body to allow the combination of caramel, vanilla, nuts and spices to come through clearly. The 0.7-litre bottle is aimed particularly at lovers of Irish whiskey with a virgin oak finish who are seeking a full-bodied blend with distinct cask character and a modern connection to international bar culture.
Tasting Note
Colour: Warm amber with golden highlights.
Nose: Inviting, with notes of cedarwood, caramelised brown sugar and delicate apricot biscuits.
Palate: Full-bodied and smooth with caramel and vanilla, accompanied by nutmeg, latte and creamy macadamia nuts.
Finish: Long-lasting and complex with vanilla, toasted notes and a delicately spicy hint of pepper.
The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey can be enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, over a large ice cube or as a robust whisky highball. In cocktails, it is particularly well suited to an Old Fashioned, a Whisky Sour or a Manhattan, as the virgin oak finish provides sufficient structure. It pairs very well with mature Cheddar, smoked meats, roast beef or roasted nuts. Caramel desserts, apricot tart or dark chocolate also complement the whisky’s sweet, fruity and nutty notes perfectly.
