MHOBA Rum American Oak Aged, at 43% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, is an authentic South African rum that impresses with its artisanal production and distinctive maturation. This rum is produced by the Mhoba Distillery in Mpumalanga, South Africa, an independent craft distillery that is fully committed to sustainable, transparent and artisanal production. Unlike industrial rums, fresh sugarcane juice – not molasses – is used here, giving the rum a particularly aromatic depth and natural complexity.

Mhoba American Oak Aged is matured in the distillery’s own charred American white oak casks, which give it its golden colour as well as notes of vanilla, oak and toasted aromas. Ageing in casks under the South African climate ensures intensive maturation and a harmonious blend of fruit, wood and spices. Distillation takes place in small batches using in-house-built pot stills, which gives the rum an unmistakable identity and artisanal precision.

As a “Single Estate Rum”, everything at Mhoba comes from a single source – from the cultivation of the sugar cane to the bottling. This makes this rum a truly unique product for connoisseurs of high-quality, authentic rums with character and provenance.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold with a slight copper tinge.

Nose: Fresh sugarcane juice, vanilla, toasted wood and subtle herbal notes.

Finish: Long, warm and balanced with subtle woody spice.
