The history of Wild Turkey began in 1869 with the founding of the Ripy Distillery on a hill now known as Wild Turkey Hill, overlooking a gorge on the Kentucky River. In 1919, the distillery was closed due to Prohibition, but reopened in 1933. Since 1941, Wild Turkey whiskies have been produced in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, by Austin Nichols.

The Wild Turkey brand name became established in 1940 when Thomas McCarthy, a manager at the Ripy Distillery, regularly took the whisky with him on turkey hunts, thereby raising its profile.

Wild Turkey Longbranch Small Batch is the result of a collaboration between the actor Matthew McConaughey and the renowned master distiller Eddie Russell. This special bourbon is aged for eight years before undergoing a special finishing process. During this process, the whisky is filtered through Texas mesquite and oak charcoal, which gives it its distinctive flavour.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber.

Nose: Vanilla and spices.

Palate: Slightly smoky, caramel, pears, citrus notes.

Finish: Long-lasting, a hint of pepper, oak.
