An Dúlamán SANTA ANA Armada Strength Gin is an exceptional Irish Navy Strength Gin that uniquely combines maritime tradition, Irish craftsmanship and Spanish cask maturation. At 57 % vol. in a 0.5 l bottle complete with a gift box, it is Ireland’s first Navy Strength Gin and a particularly potent interpretation of the well-known An Dúlamán Irish Maritime Gin. Its roots lie on the rugged coast of Donegal, whose maritime landscape significantly shapes the character of this gin.


The Santa Ana Armada Strength Gin takes its name from La Duquesa Santa Ana, a mighty Andalusian ship of the Spanish Armada that sank off the coast of Loughros Mor near Ardara in 1588. As a tribute to this historical connection, after distillation the gin is matured in Rioja wine casks from the home region of the ship’s commander at the time. During this cask maturation, it develops its characteristic rose-gold hue and a subtle natural sweetness that harmonises perfectly with the maritime umami notes and the classic botanicals. The gin is then bottled at a robust 57% ABV as ‘Armada Strength’.


The characteristic maritime botanicals of the classic An Dúlamán are preserved and complemented by the Rioja cask maturation, adding further complexity. Robust juniper meets salty maritime notes, floral aromas, delicate spices and liquorice. On the palate, candied orange peel, a subtle Madeira-like sweetness, fresh blackberries and elegant oak notes combine to create an exceptionally multi-layered taste experience.

An Dúlamán SANTA ANA Armada Strength Gin is excellent served neat or on the rocks, which really brings out its complex cask-maturation character. It also pairs beautifully with a premium tonic water, which highlights its maritime botanicals, or with a splash of Sodawasser for a particularly Purist experience. A classic dry Martini also brings out the power and elegance of this cask-aged Irish Navy Strength gin to great effect.
