Don Julio 1942 Tequila Añejo 38% is an iconic premium tequila from Mexico, created as a tribute to the year 1942, when Don Julio González began his career as a tequila producer. The Añejo is made from 100 per cent Blue Weber agave, which forms the basis for its characteristic, elegant style. It is produced in small batches before the tequila is aged for more than 24 months in selected ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. During this lengthy cask ageing, the natural characteristics of the agave blend with intense notes of vanilla, caramel, chocolate and toasted wood. This results in a particularly smooth and complex Añejo with a distinctly pronounced cask character.

With an alcohol content of 38 per cent, the Don Julio 1942 Añejo is powerful, yet exceptionally smooth and well-balanced. Warm oak notes, vanilla and toasted agave take centre stage, whilst caramel and chocolate lend additional depth. The long ageing in American white oak also characterises the lingering finish, with notes of vanilla and wood. Presented in a generous 1.75-litre bottle, Don Julio 1942 Tequila is particularly well-suited to upmarket restaurants, bars, large celebrations or as a prestigious large-format bottle for collectors and connoisseurs of aged 100% agave tequilas.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Rich with caramel and chocolate, accompanied by vanilla, toasted agave and subtle oak.

Palate: Full-bodied and smooth with warm oak, vanilla and toasted agave, complemented by caramel and subtle spicy notes.

Finish: Long-lasting and elegant with oak, rich vanilla and a gentle agave sweetness.

Don Julio 1942 Tequila Añejo is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C or over a large ice cube. Dark chocolate, caramelised nuts and desserts featuring vanilla or caramel pair particularly well with its matured cask character. Mature hard cheeses or lightly toasted almonds also harmonise well with the oak and agave notes. Thanks to its 1.75-litre large bottle, this bottling is also particularly well-suited to high-end celebrations, exclusive bars and special occasions.
