Rum Malecon Añejo 18 Años Reserva Imperial is an 18-year-old rum with an alcohol content of 40 per cent, supplied in a 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box. The long ageing process in selected oak casks is at the heart of this bottling and gives the rum its distinct maturity and complex structure. Malecon bases its rums on the traditional Spanish-influenced rum style and opts for particularly long cask ageing with the Reserva Imperial. The distillate is given a full 18 years to interact with the oak and develop its own distinctive character. Within the Malecon portfolio, the Reserva Imperial 18 Años is one of the established premium bottlings and has already won several awards for its quality at international competitions.


The Malecon Reserva Imperial 18 Years combines long cask maturation with a smooth yet intense character. In particular, the distinct influence of the oak emphasises its advanced age without completely overpowering the fruity and sweet notes. Its combination of 18 years’ ageing, classic oak cask maturation and high-quality presentation in a gift box makes it an interesting choice for connoisseurs of long-aged premium rums. Due to its complexity, it is advisable to allow the rum some time in the glass after pouring.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with mahogany-coloured highlights.

Nose: Intense and sweet, with notes of dried apricots, chocolate, vanilla and spicy oak.

Palate: Smooth yet intense, with vanilla, cocoa beans, dried fruit and pronounced spicy oak notes.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with spicy oak, cocoa and notes of ripe fruit.

The Malecon Reserva Imperial 18 Años is best served neat at room temperature in a rum or nosing glass and is excellent as a digestif. When paired with savoury dishes, it goes particularly well with beef fillet, game or mature hard cheese, whilst dark chocolate, desserts containing cocoa and dried fruit, or roasted nuts complement its mature flavours perfectly. For a special cocktail, this 18-year-old rum can also be used in a premium rum Old Fashioned. Thanks to its long ageing process, it is particularly well-suited to quiet moments of indulgence and special occasions.
