The Aikan brand has set itself the aim of bridging two continents – namely Europe and America – as well as two different climate zones – the continental and the tropical – whilst at the same time harmoniously uniting two worlds of spirits: whisky and rum. Symbolically, the word ‘Aikan’ – which means ‘wedding’ in the language of the indigenous people of Martinique, the Arawak – embodies precisely this aspiration.

The whisky first spends three years in Scotland, where it matures in a cool, temperate climate. It is then transferred to the island of Martinique in the Caribbean for a further year, where it undergoes secondary maturation in a former rum cask from the French Antilles. This two-stage ageing process in two completely different climate zones fosters a complex interplay of aromas and results in a rich, multi-layered flavour profile.

This transcontinental maturation, which harnesses the differences in temperature and environment, produces a whisky that captures the essence of both worlds and unites them in a harmonious yet complex product.

Tasting Note

Nose: Fruity, citrus, notes of lime, banana, toast and salt.

Palate: Rich, fruity, tropical fruits, mangoes, hints of almonds and honey.

Finish: Long-lasting.
