Matsui Whisky THE KURAYOSHI 8 Years Old Pure Malt Whisky 43% vol. 0.7 l + GB is an elegant Japanese pure malt whisky produced at the historic Matsui Shuzō distillery in Tottori Prefecture. The distillery is picturesquely situated at the foot of Mount Daisen, where exceptionally pure spring water from volcanic rock is used in the production process. This water is considered one of the key factors contributing to the smoothness and clarity of Kurayoshi whisky.


The Kurayoshi 8 Years Old is matured for at least eight years in selected oak casks, some of which were previously used for bourbon. This long cask maturation lends it a harmonious blend of fruitiness, mild sweetness and a gentle spiciness. As a pure malt, it consists exclusively of various malt whiskies that have been masterfully blended to create a complex yet accessible flavour profile. With an alcohol content of 43% vol., it is full-bodied, yet always balanced and smooth.


The stylish gift box (GB) emphasises its premium character, making it an excellent choice for collectors or as a special gift.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Fruity and malty, with notes of vanilla, honey, dried fruit and a hint of oak.

Palate: Smooth and rounded, characterised by sweet maltiness, caramel, dried fruit and a hint of spice.

Finish: Medium to long, warm and harmonious, with elegant notes of oak and fruit.

The Kurayoshi 8 Years Old Pure Malt Whisky is ideal for enjoying neat in a nosing glass or with a few drops of water to bring out its delicate aromas. It pairs excellently with dark chocolate, almonds, mild cheese or pan-fried salmon, as its fruity, malty sweetness allows for exciting combinations. It also makes for a memorable digestif after a fine meal.
