The Big Mama 10 Years Old Rum Demerara Muscatel Finished is an outstanding rum from the Demerara region, which, at 40 % vol., offers a well-balanced intensity and complexity. This rum was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2017, giving it an impressive maturation period of 10 years. The rum is initially matured in bourbon casks, which gives it a solid foundation of woody and caramelised flavours. It is then finished in Muscatel casks, which lend this rum an additional fruity sweetness and spicy depth, making it a unique experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Nutmeg, caramel, vanilla, dried fruit, a delicate hint of oak.

Palate: Smooth and complex, with notes of caramel, nutmeg, dried plums and vanilla; slightly spicy with a hint of Muscatel.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering notes of nutmeg and oak, a sweet fruit note and a hint of spice.

Big Mama 10 Years Old Rum is excellent enjoyed neat, ideally at room temperature or slightly chilled, to fully appreciate its complex flavours. It pairs particularly well with dark chocolate, mature cheeses such as Gouda or Brie, as well as fruity desserts or caramel biscuits. For cocktails, it is an excellent choice for a Rum Old Fashioned or a Rum Sour, where the harmonious muscatel and bourbon notes come into their own.
