The family-run Caffo company is headquartered in Limbadi, Calabria, and operates several distilleries where high-quality spirits are produced. The company’s roots date back to the late 19th century, when Giuseppe Caffo began distilling grape marc. In 1915, he acquired an old distillery in Sicily and initially specialised in the production of grape brandies.

To produce the Vecchio Amaro del Capo Red Hot Edition, the distillers use a unique process in which selected herbs and spices are macerated in pure alcohol for several weeks. Following this extended maceration period, the mixture is distilled in copper stills. The resulting distillate is then blended with water and sugar to achieve the desired flavour and alcohol content.

Thanks to the family’s dedication and support, the range has been continuously expanded and now comprises an impressive variety of spirits.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow.

Nose: Fresh, herbal, hints of chilli.

Palate: Smooth, spicy, herbal, with hints of chilli.

Finish: Long-lasting, fiery.

Vecchio Amaro del Capo is best enjoyed at -20°C. Only then do the full aromas of mint, aniseed, liquorice and various herbs unfold.
