Ron Zacapa Centenario La Armonia Heavenly Cask Collection is the third release in the limited-edition Heavenly Cask Collection from Guatemala. The series focuses specifically on the different types of cask that define Zacapa’s style. Following on from La Doma – The Taming Cask and La Alma – The Soul Cask, La Armonia focuses on the influence of Oloroso sherry casks. For this special edition, Master Blender Lorena Vásquez has combined selected rums of varying maturities into a complex blend, which was then refined through additional maturation in ex-Oloroso sherry casks from Spain. The name “La Armonia” refers to the harmonious interplay of the various cask and ageing influences.


Maturation takes place in the Guatemalan highlands at the famous “House Above the Clouds”, where the cooler climate at an altitude of around 2,300 metres promotes slower cask maturation. As with the well-known Zacapa style, distillates matured in different ways are blended together, with the Heavenly Cask Collection emphasising a specific cask character in each case. In the case of Zacapa La Armonia – The Harmony Cask, the Oloroso sherry casks in particular lend additional depth and a distinctly fruity, nutty character. With an alcohol content of 40 per cent, limited availability and a high-quality gift box, this special release is aimed at both Zacapa enthusiasts and collectors of the Heavenly Cask Collection.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with mahogany and copper-coloured highlights.

Nose: Caramelised fruit, ripe berries and vanilla, accompanied by pecan nuts, spicy oak and pronounced Oloroso sherry notes.

Palate: Smooth, rich and harmonious, with dark fruits, caramelised sweetness and vanilla, complemented by pecans, sherry, spices and delicate oak.

Finish: Long-lasting and elegant, with dark fruit, nuts, vanilla and a warm, delicately spiced sherry cask note.

Ron Zacapa La Armonia Heavenly Cask Collection is best enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C or over a large ice cube, so that the influence of the Oloroso sherry casks in particular comes to the fore. It pairs well with pecans, mature hard cheeses, dark chocolate or desserts featuring caramelised fruit. Dried fruits such as figs or dates also complement the rich character of this bottling perfectly. As the third edition of the Heavenly Cask Collection, La Armonia is also particularly well-suited for a joint tasting with the other special releases in the series.
