Don Julio Tequila Añejo 100% Agave 38% is a premium añejo tequila from Mexico, made from 100% blue Weber agave and aged in small batches. After distillation, it is aged for 18 months in American white oak casks, which allows the typical agave character to blend with subtle notes of wood, vanilla and caramel. The extended barrel ageing lends the tequila additional depth and ensures a balanced interplay between cooked agave, oak and sweet barrel notes. Don Julio embodies an elegant, clearly structured style of tequila, in which the origin of the agave and the barrel ageing are equally central.

With an alcohol content of 38 per cent, Don Julio Añejo Tequila is full-bodied, complex and harmonious. Fresh citrus notes of lime, grapefruit and mandarin meet caramel, wild honey and a pronounced oak character. On the palate, cooked agave, buttery caramel and the spicy character of American white oak combine to create a well-rounded profile. The 0.7-litre bottle is particularly well-suited for drinking neat and for lovers of matured 100% agave tequila who are looking for a balanced añejo with distinct oak influences whilst still retaining a recognisable agave base.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold to amber.

Nose: Fresh and multi-layered with lime, grapefruit and mandarin, accompanied by caramel and subtle oak notes.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex with cooked agave, wild honey and buttery caramel, complemented by vanilla and spicy oak.

Finish: Long-lasting, bright and slightly spicy with wild honey, agave and subtle woody notes.

Don Julio Tequila Añejo is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C or over a large ice cube. Dark chocolate, roasted nuts and mature hard cheese pair well with the caramel, honey and oak notes. Desserts featuring vanilla, caramel or citrus fruits also complement the tequila’s fruity-sweet notes.
