The Heinrich St. Laurent is an elegant, delicately fruity red wine from the renowned Weingut Heinrich in Gols, situated in the sun-drenched Burgenland region of Austria. The Weingut Heinrich, run by Gernot and Heike Heinrich, has enjoyed an international reputation for many years and is renowned for its outstanding biodynamic wines with authentic terroir character. The St. Laurent grape variety, in particular, finds ideal conditions in the sun-drenched vineyards of Gols to fully develop its elegant aromatics.

For the Heinrich St. Laurent, the grapes are selectively harvested by hand and gently processed to authentically highlight the variety’s typical characteristics. Careful fermentation takes place spontaneously using wild yeasts, before the wine is gently matured in large, second-hand wooden barrels. As a result, this red wine develops an impressive balance, fine complexity and a subtle spiciness.

With a moderate alcohol content of 11.5% ABV, the St. Laurent offers a pleasantly fresh, lively drinking experience and impressively demonstrates that elegance and lightness go together perfectly.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Heinrich St. Laurent 2020 displays an attractive, clear ruby red colour with violet highlights. The elegant bouquet delights with fragrant aromas of ripe sour cherries, dark berries and wild raspberries, complemented by subtle hints of herbs, floral notes and delicate spicy accents. On the palate, it is fresh, smooth and harmonious, with velvety tannins and a lively, balanced acidity. The finish is fruit-driven and delicately spicy, characterised by a light minerality and invigorating herbal notes.
