The name Kawama is derived from the Caguama tortoise, a symbol historically regarded by local tribes as the mother of humanity. This Cuban rum, Kawama, honours the heritage and symbolic significance of the Caribbean tortoise and delights connoisseurs worldwide with its unique character.

Kawama 19 Extra Anejo is a premium Cuban rum, renowned for its exceptionally long ageing period of almost two decades. Produced by Ronera Cardenas and distilled by the experienced maestro ronero César Augusto Martí Marcelo, this rum is made from molasses using continuous distillation in a column still. The long-term ageing in American white oak casks under Cuba’s tropical climate contributes to the complexity and depth of its flavour.

As a blend, the Kawama 19 Extra Anejo combines various distillates that have been aged for up to 19 years and is characterised by a relatively low alcohol content. This rum is the oldest release in the range and, with a maturation period even longer than that of the Extra Anejo 13, is particularly recommended for drinking neat.
