The Tement Winery, situated in southern Styria on the border with Slovenia, focuses primarily on the cultivation of white grape varieties. 95 per cent of its vineyards are planted with varieties such as Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc, Morillon and Traminer. The wines, which are grouped under the ‘Steirische Klassik’ designation, come from various vineyards and are matured in stainless steel tanks. In addition to the “Steirische Klassik” range, the winery also produces single-vineyard wines, each reflecting the characteristic influence of its specific growing site and matured in both large and small wooden barrels.

Tement Morillon Ried Zieregg is a white wine made from 100 per cent Morillon grapes, which are grown on soil consisting of loose brown earth over barren coral limestone. The vines used for this wine are around 40 years old, which contributes to the quality and intensity of the flavour. The vinification process involves natural spontaneous fermentation, followed by a 24-month ageing period on the fine lees in 228-litre oak casks. The wine is then bottled unfiltered. It is characterised by its long ageing potential, with an ideal drinking window lasting until at least 2040. The wine is bottled in bottles sealed with a cork.

Tasting Note

Straw-yellow in the glass. On the nose and on the palate, it is mineral, with spicy herbal notes and fruity hints of exotic fruits and dried apples. Long-lasting finish.

An ideal accompaniment to freshwater fish, stews and oven-roasted vegetables.
