Clément Rhum Vieux Agricole 10 Ans is a 10-year-old Rhum Agricole from Martinique, which bears the AOC Martinique protected designation of origin. Unlike traditional molasses-based rum, Rhum Agricole is produced from fresh sugarcane juice, which means that its origin and the sugarcane itself are of particular importance. For this bottling, the rum undergoes ten years of tropical ageing in Martinique. According to the producer, the rum is matured in ex-Bourbon casks, supplemented by a proportion of new French oak casks. The long ageing period concentrates and develops the character of the distillate over an entire decade, resulting in the combination of sugarcane distillate and intense oak influence typical of a high-quality Rhum Vieux Agricole.

With an alcohol content of 42 per cent and a bottle size of 0.7 litres, the Clément 10 Ans is one of the long-aged expressions from the long-established Clément house. The brand is closely linked to the Habitation Clément on Martinique and is one of the internationally renowned representatives of Rhum Agricole. In particular, the combination of AOC Martinique, a ten-year maturation period, ex-bourbon casks and French oak sets this bottling apart within the range. Its dark mahogany colour and pronounced character of maturity reflect its long ageing under tropical conditions. As such, Clément Rhum Agricole 10 Years is aimed primarily at connoisseurs of matured Agricole rums who value clearly defined provenance, traditional production methods and extended cask ageing.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark mahogany.

Nose: Orange, acacia honey and roasted cocoa beans, accompanied by dried fruit and elegant hints of a cigar box.

Palate: Powerful, full-bodied and rounded, with ripe fruit, cocoa, honey and pronounced oak notes.

Finish: Long-lasting and complex, with spicy woody notes, dried fruit and delicate roasted aromas.

The Clément Rhum Vieux Agricole 10 Ans is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C, allowing its mature Agricole character to unfold fully. The producer particularly recommends pairing it with chocolate tiramisu, whose cocoa flavours complement the profile of this bottling well. Dark chocolate, roasted nuts or cocoa-based desserts are also excellent accompaniments. Thanks to its ten-year ageing, this rum is particularly well-suited as a digestif and for quiet moments of enjoyment after a meal.
