Johann Kattus G.m.b.H., founded in 1857, is the oldest family-run sparkling wine producer in Vienna and is synonymous with a combination of the highest quality, traditional values, environmentally friendly production methods and a passion for innovation. In the historic cellars of Johann Kattus, selected grapes undergo a maturation process lasting up to four years. This extended maturation period fosters the development of complex and balanced flavour nuances that are the hallmark of these sparkling wines.

Kattus No. 1 exemplifies the marriage of exquisite Welschriesling grapes from the finest vineyards around Poysdorf with hand-picked Riesling from the sunny terraces of Vienna’s Nussberg. This carefully selected blend lends the sparkling wine a characteristic freshness, deep fruity notes and an elegant structure.

Tasting Note

On the nose and on the palate, this sparkling wine reveals its fruity and harmonious character. It has a long finish with a delicate effervescence.
