Balvenie 18 Years Old: A Collection of Curious Casks – French Pineau Cask Finish, 47.9% vol., 0.7 l, in a gift box

The 18-year-old Balvenie French Pineau Cask is the older brother of the Bourbon Barrel expression from the new ‘A Curious Cask Collection’ range, which stems from a spirit of curiosity and the close collaboration between Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Samples Coordinator George Paterson. Both expressions from this project are the successors to the popular ‘Revelation of Cask and Character’ series.

Unpeated malt was milled, mashed, fermented and distilled. The casks used for the 18-year maturation of the French Pineau Cask whisky originate from an experiment by David Stewart, who originally intended to use them for Balvenie’s 16-year-old French Oak release, but then opted to mature the whisky in other French casks instead.

The unique cask maturation in French Pineau casks lends the 18-year-old Balvenie an unrivalled elegance and sophistication that delights whisky connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Toasted oak, spices, caramel, ripe berries.

Palate: Spices, full-bodied sweetness, vanilla, honey, woody tannins.

Finish: Long-lasting.
