Tomintoul 14 Years Old PX Sherry Quarter Cask Finish 2009 46% vol. 0.7 l in a gift box

The Tomintoul Distillery, situated in the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

Situated at an altitude of 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland’s second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of spirit produced annually is exported to the United States for use in blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single-cask bottlings.

This limited-edition single malt from the Tomintoul distillery in Speyside, distilled in 2009, was matured for 14 years, undergoing a carefully crafted maturation process. After initially being stored in American oak bourbon casks, it underwent further maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry quarter casks, selected and monitored by Master Distiller Robert Fleming.

This second stage of maturation lent the whisky a distinctive depth and complexity in its flavour profile. Finally, the single malt was bottled without the addition of colouring or chill filtration, which underscores its natural purity and authenticity. This combination of traditional production and innovative maturation makes this whisky a special experience for connoisseurs.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Maple wood, plums, dates, chocolate, oak.

Palate: Dark chocolate, maple cones, earthy notes, roasted nuts, coffee.

Finish: Long-lasting.
