Lagavulin 16 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 43% ABV, is one of the best-known Islay single malts and epitomises the bold, smoky style of the Scottish island. It is produced at the historic Lagavulin Distillery on the south coast of Islay, whose history dates back to the early 19th century. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with amber highlights.

Finish: Very long-lasting, dry and smoky with warm spice, maritime notes and a subtle sweetness.

The Lagavulin 16 Years Old best reveals its complex Islay character when enjoyed neat at room temperature in a nosing glass. A few drops of still water can bring out additional fruit and cask notes whilst allowing the peaty smoke to unfold more fully. Culinary pairings include smoked salmon, oysters, strong blue cheese or grilled meat. Dark chocolate with a high cocoa content also provides an appealing contrast to the smoke, salt and spicy sweetness.
