The A.H. Riise Distillery, situated on St Thomas in the Caribbean, offers more than just excellent flavour in its spirits – it captures a rich history. Founded in the 1840s by pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise, whilst the island was a Danish colony, every bottle combines traditional distilling craftsmanship with its founder’s passion for discovery. Riise’s discoveries of new plants and herbs in the West Indies continue to shape the distinctive flavour of these premium rums to this day. With every drop, A.H. Riise celebrates a heritage steeped in adventure.

The selection and special treatment of the casks are crucial to the creation of the A.H. Riise Non Plus Ultra Very Rare Spirit Drink. By charring old casks for a longer period, the blend can penetrate deeper into the untouched layers of wood. This method, combined with carefully selected base rums, defines the blend’s unmistakable flavour. Its uniqueness is evident in every detail, from the deep, dark colour to the complex aroma, presented in a specially designed, multifaceted bottle.

This spirit drink has been produced using a new recipe in which the sugar content has been reduced. This means it is less sweet than before, allowing the natural flavours and nuances to come through more clearly.

Only 3,000 bottles are produced by hand each year.

Tasting Note

Colour: Mahogany.

Nose: Oranges, tobacco, caramel, hints of sherry and vanilla.

Palate: Notes of tobacco and sherry.

Finish: Long-lasting.
