Hannes Reeh Zweigelt Neusiedlersee is an excellent example of the exceptional craftsmanship of the Austrian winemaker Hannes Reeh. This Zweigelt is made from 100 per cent hand-picked Zweigelt grapes, which thrive on the characteristic red gravelly soil with sandy components found around Lake Neusiedl. The soil and the region’s mild climate play a decisive role in bringing out the typical Zweigelt aromas, which are beautifully showcased in this wine. The grapes are harvested by hand and then gently fermented in stainless steel tanks, which preserves the wine’s fresh fruit aromas and elegance.

The wine is sealed with a practical screw cap, which preserves its freshness and purity for a long time. The Hannes Reeh Zweigelt Neusiedlersee DAC 2023 has good ageing potential and can continue to mature until 2029, during which time its aromas will continue to develop and refine.

Tasting Note

A deep, intense ruby red in the glass. The nose is treated to aromas of red berries such as cherries and raspberries, along with a hint of spices and herbs. On the palate, the wine unfolds with a delicate fruitiness and a well-structured tannin base. The Zweigelt is round and harmonious, with a refreshing acidity that lends it freshness and vibrancy. The finish is of medium length and clean, with a slight spiciness and a hint of fruit that rounds off the tasting experience.

Hannes Reeh Zweigelt pairs superbly with hearty meat dishes such as beef steak, roast pork or grilled lamb.
