The Wolfburn 8 Years Old Cognac Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an exclusive release from the young but already highly regarded Wolfburn Distillery, situated on the north coast of Scotland. Since its revival in 2013, the distillery has focused on traditional craftsmanship and innovative maturation techniques, which lend its whiskies a distinctive depth and character.

This limited edition has been matured for eight years in Cognac casks, giving the whisky a particularly rich and complex aroma. The influence of the former cognac casks lends it a subtle fruitiness and a delicate sweetness, whilst the long maturation period perfectly integrates the flavours of oak, vanilla and dried fruit. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, which gives it a pleasant intensity and allows its multi-layered flavours to come into their own.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Delicate aromas of honey, ripe apples, dried apricots and vanilla, complemented by a hint of spice.

Palate: Smooth and full-bodied with notes of caramelised nuts, honey, dark fruits and a subtle hint of oak.

Finish: Long-lasting and elegant with nuances of spices, subtle wood and a gentle cognac sweetness.

This whisky is ideal for enjoying neat, allowing the delicate cognac aromas to fully unfold. It pairs particularly well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or mild goat’s cheese. It also reveals its full sophistication when paired with a fine cigar or a creamy dessert featuring vanilla and honey.
