Kerschbaum Cuvée Impresario 2022 14% ABV 0.75l

The 2022 Impresario cuvée from the renowned Weingut Kerschbaum is an impressive red wine from Central Burgenland, characterised by powerful elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. This vintage blends 60 per cent Blaufränkisch, 20 per cent Zweigelt, 15 per cent Merlot and 5 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon to create a complex, multi-layered composition of international calibre.

The carefully harvested grapes were processed with particular care and fermented on the skins for 24 days to optimally extract the deep colour pigments, aromas and tannin structure. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 18 months exclusively in new oak barrels, lending it depth, richness and impressive ageing potential. The Impresario 2022 embodies, like almost no other wine from the estate, the fusion of Burgenland tradition and modern style.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the wine displays a dark ruby-garnet colour with an opaque centre, violet highlights and a delicate lightening at the rim. The nose is intense and multi-layered, characterised by nuances of fine wood, blackcurrant, dark chocolate, nougat and candied orange zest. On the palate, the wine is powerful, concentrated and elegant, with subtle extract sweetness, ripe tannins, dark berry fruit, heart cherries and salty minerality. The structure is firm yet finely woven, with a long finish and excellent ageing potential.

Acidity: 5.6 g/l

This cuvée is an excellent accompaniment to braised beef, game dishes, lamb with rosemary, rich sauces or mature hard cheese. It also reveals its full potential with festive menus or as an accompaniment to truffle dishes. Given the wine’s depth and youthfulness, it is recommended that it be decanted for at least 4 hours. Served at 16–18 °C, the full aromatic range of this fine cuvée unfolds.
