The Regele Traminer Sulztaler Zoppelberg Eiswein 1997 is an exceptional and rare, one-of-a-kind sweet wine from the renowned single vineyard Zoppelberg in Sulztal on the South Styrian Wine Route. The Regele Winery, based in Leibnitz (Southern Styria), has for decades been synonymous with quality-oriented viticulture and a deep respect for nature and the terroir. This rarity from 1997 was harvested under the strictest climatic conditions – at a minimum of –7 °C, as required for a genuine ice wine.

The Traminer grape variety, known for its intense aromas and structure, is ideally suited to noble sweet wines. The sugars and aromatic compounds concentrated deep within the frozen grapes yield a highly extract-rich, opulent must concentrate following the slow pressing process. The subsequent, very long fermentation and careful ageing result in a wine with enormous ageing potential, complex aromas and velvety sweetness. Despite its high level of ripeness, this ice wine retains its freshness and elegance thanks to its fine acidity. With an alcohol content of 12 % vol., it is powerful yet well-balanced.

A real treasure for lovers of mature dessert wines and a prime example of the longevity of great sweet wines from Styria.

In colour, the ice wine is a brilliant gold with amber highlights. On the nose, it reveals an intense bouquet of dried rose petals, honey, apricot jam, candied orange peel and cloves. On the palate, the wine is silky, concentrated and full-bodied, with lush sweetness, balanced acidity and a long, lingering, spicy-sweet finish that echoes for a long time. An ice wine of impressive depth and elegance.
