This single malt was initially matured in ex-American bourbon casks before being finished in ex-red wine casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley – one of the world’s most renowned wine-growing regions, famous for port and full-bodied red wines.

The additional maturation in Douro Valley wine casks lends this GlenAllachie an extra layer of aromatic depth, characterised by dark berries, delicate tannins and sweet spice, which blend harmoniously with the whisky’s fruity, malty character. With an alcohol content of 48 % vol., non-chill-filtered and bottled in its natural colour, this bottling offers an authentic and intense tasting experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: A ruby-gold hue.

Nose: Fruity and elegant with ripe red berries, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate and oaky notes.

Palate: Full-bodied with flavours of black cherries, strawberry jam, honey, toasted almonds and a hint of dark chocolate.

Finish: Long and harmonious with fruity sweetness, soft tannins and delicate spice.

This single malt is best enjoyed neat at room temperature, ideally in a nosing glass, to bring out the wine cask aromas to their fullest. A few drops of water open up the structure and reveal the fruity nuances even more clearly.
