Come Hell or High Water XO Rum is a complex, premium rum blend that combines selected distillates from four traditional rum-producing regions in the Caribbean and South America. The blend is crafted using hand-selected pot-still and column-still rums from Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana. The individual components are aged for up to 15 years in American oak casks that previously held bourbon. The combination of different distillation methods, countries of origin and degrees of maturation results in a complex blend, in which more robust pot-still components meet lighter column-still distillates. The long cask maturation also contributes notes of oak, spice and toasty aromas.

With an alcohol content of 40 per cent and a 0.7-litre bottle, Come Hell or High Water XO is designed specifically as a rum to be enjoyed neat. The dark, striking packaging reflects the premium character of the XO bottling. It is also worth noting that, in terms of its sugar content, the rum complies with EU regulations for the rum category, which limit the sweetening of the finished product. The focus is therefore on the matured distillates from Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana, as well as their distinct styles. The Come Hell or High Water XO Rum, aged up to 15 years, thus offers an interesting blend of Caribbean fruit, bolder ester notes and the long-term influence of American ex-bourbon casks.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark mahogany with golden highlights.

Nose: Intense and complex with strong notes of sugar cane, distinctive hints of esters and damp oak, accompanied by nuances of ripe fruit.

Palate: Smooth and full-bodied with ripe tropical fruits, brown sugar and warm baking spices, underpinned by soft tannins and matured wood notes.

Finish: Long-lasting, balanced and pleasantly warming with tropical fruit, spices and a subtle oak finish.

Come Hell or High Water XO Rum is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C or over a large ice cube. It pairs well with dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, roasted nuts, caramelised banana or pineapple, and desserts featuring brown sugar and warm spices. Mature hard cheeses can also provide an interesting contrast to the fruity and woody notes. The XO is particularly well-suited to rum tastings, allowing you to compare the influence of different countries of origin, as well as pot-still and column-still rums, within a single blend.
