Planteray O.F.T.D. Overproof Rum pays homage to the classic style of Navy rums – robust, full of character and a true testament to craftsmanship. With an alcohol content of 69 % vol., this rum embodies the intensity and richness of flavour that once served as the benchmark of quality for Royal Navy sailors. The name O.F.T.D. officially stands for Old Fashioned Traditional Dark, but connoisseurs know that it actually stems from the legendary exclamation of a tasting panel: “Oh F* That’s Delicious!” – a spontaneous expression of pure enthusiasm when the perfect recipe was found.


Behind this extraordinary creation is Alexandre Gabriel, Master Blender and the driving force behind Planteray. Together with six experienced ‘rum veterans’ from around the world – all proven experts in their field – he developed the concept for a genuine, old-school overproof rum. In an intensive process lasting several months, over 1,000 different samples were created before the final result was decided: a masterful blend of rums from Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados, perfectly balanced to capture the essence of Caribbean distilling.


The Planteray O.F.T.D. is therefore not just a blend, but a genuine collaboration between seven rum enthusiasts who have poured their passion into every facet of this rum. It combines the depth and molasses notes of Guyana, the robust fruitiness and spice of Jamaica, and the delicate balance and elegance of Barbados. After blending, the rum is aged in French oak casks, which lend it its harmonious structure and warm, sweet-spicy profile.

Tasting Note

Colour: Rich, deep mahogany red.

Nose: Intense and precise, with notes of coffee, orange, plums, jam and truffle, accompanied by molasses, vanilla and dark chocolate.

Palate: Full-bodied, robust and creamy with flavours of caramel, chocolate and vanilla, followed by cinnamon, raisins, nutmeg, oak and smoky notes.

Finish: Long and lingering with notes of dark chocolate, cloves and caramel – warm, spicy and elegant.
