The Quinta do Pinto Touriga Nacional Reserva DOC Alenquer 2019, with an alcohol content of 14.5 per cent by volume, in a 0.75-litre bottle, is an impressive Portuguese red wine that expresses the essence of the noble Touriga Nacional grape variety in its purest form. This indigenous grape, renowned for its depth, structure and aromatic complexity, reveals its full character on the unique terroir of the DOC Alenquer, north of Lisbon. The wine is vinified exclusively from 100 per cent Touriga Nacional and impressively demonstrates how elegance, intensity and finesse blend together in perfect harmony.


The grapes are carefully selected and thinned out during the ripening period to ensure the highest concentration and aromatic purity. Following fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks and a three-week post-fermentation maceration, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (first and second fill). This method lends it structure, depth and balance without overpowering the fruit. The result is a full-bodied wine with harmonious freshness and precise elegance – a prime example of Portuguese winemaking at the very highest level and a reflection of Quinta do Pinto’s philosophy, which emphasises authenticity, craftsmanship and an awareness of terroir.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Quinta do Pinto Touriga Nacional Reserva 2019 displays a deep ruby red colour. On the nose, an intense and complex spectrum of aromas unfolds, with notes of black fruits – particularly plums and wild berries – accompanied by floral nuances and fresh mint. Subtle barrique notes of spices, toasted wood and dark chocolate elegantly round off the bouquet. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety and powerful; it fills the entire palate whilst remaining perfectly balanced thanks to its maritime freshness. The fine, mature tannins provide structure and elegance, whilst the finish is long-lasting, complex and harmonious.

The Quinta do Pinto Touriga Nacional Reserva DOC Alenquer 2019 is an ideal accompaniment to grilled or braised beef, leg of lamb, game dishes and mature hard cheeses. Its depth and spice harmonise superbly with dishes featuring Mediterranean herbs, dark sauces or truffle risotto. It also comes into its own with duck in port wine sauce or braised oxtail.
