Description
Siete Misterios DOBA-YEJ Artisanal Mezcal DOP 2024 44% vol. 0.7 l online kaufen
The Siete Misterios DOBA-YEJ Mezcal Artesanal DOP 2024 is one of the defining bottlings from Siete Misterios and is also the mezcal with which the brand first established itself. Produced in sun-drenched Oaxaca, this Mezcal Artesanal is made entirely from fully matured Agave angustifolia Haw, better known as Espadín. The name Doba Yej comes from the ancient Zapotec language and means ‘Espadín’, which underlines the close connection between the product, its origin and its culture. This edition is limited to 7,150 bottles, reflecting the producers’ unwavering commitment to artisanal craftsmanship.
The agave hearts are traditionally cooked in earth ovens for three to five days, then left to rest, ground and naturally fermented. Double distillation takes place using the classic method in alambiques de cobre – copper stills – as is typical for authentic Mezcal DOP. This Oaxaca mezcal is produced in small batches using the traditional techniques of the maestros mezcaleros from Santiago Matatlán. Bottled at 44 per cent, Siete Misterios DOBA-YEJ is clear, precise and well-balanced, combining traditional production methods with a fresh, accessible style.
Tasting Note
Colour: Clear, brilliant.
Nose: Fruity and sweet, floral, light agave notes, subtle hints of citrus.
Palate: Lemon, grapefruit, lime, violet, toffee; lively and well-balanced.
Finish: Fresh, lemony, clearly structured, medium-long to long-lasting.
The Siete Misterios DOBA-YEJ Mezcal is ideal for drinking neat, served slightly chilled to fully appreciate its floral and citrusy freshness. Culinary pairings include ceviche, grilled fish, prawns, tacos with poultry or vegetables, and fresh salsas with lime and herbs. This Espadín mezcal also pairs well with mild goat’s cheese, roasted maize or light starters. Furthermore, it is excellent for cocktails such as the Mezcal Margarita or Paloma, where its clean, fresh character takes centre stage.
