Penderyn THE VILLAGE Welsh Whisky Icons of Wales No. 14 46% is a special release from the renowned Icons of Wales Collection, through which Penderyn pays tribute to significant figures, places and milestones in Welsh history. The fourteenth edition is dedicated to Portmeirion in North Wales, that extraordinary, Italian-inspired coastal village created by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis over several decades. To mark Portmeirion’s 100th anniversary in 2026, “The Village” combines the Welsh whisky tradition with a distinctive cultural reference. The finish in Amarone casks plays a special role here, imparting intense fruit, spicy oak and a wine-like depth to the whisky. It is bottled at a robust 46% ABV, without chill filtration and without colouring.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold to amber with warm highlights.

Nose: Ripe fruit and spicy oak with subtle notes of vanilla and cocoa, followed by honey and lightly toasted wood.

Palate: Velvety and full-bodied with red berries, ripe plums and gentle spice, accompanied by honeyed sweetness and floral accents.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming with candied fruit, spicy oak and a subtle hint of grape tannins.

Penderyn THE VILLAGE Icons of Wales No. 14 is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water can further bring out the fruity and Amarone notes. It pairs well with mature hard cheeses, duck breast, game dishes or air-dried ham, whose robust flavours harmonise with the fruit and oak notes. For desserts, plum cake, dark chocolate, red berry desserts or candied fruit are ideal. The whisky can also be enjoyed over a large ice cube if you wish to soften its robust character slightly.
