Berliner Mumpitz Rhubarb & Cardamom is an exceptional smoothie liqueur from Germany that combines fruity rhubarb with aromatic cardamom. Handcrafted with great care, Berliner Mumpitz uses natural ingredients, a high fruit content and deliberately reduced sweetness. A fruit content of around 70 per cent gives it its characteristic smoothie-like consistency, which is why the bottle should always be shaken vigorously before serving. The liqueur is vegan and contains colouring. The focus is on the combination of fruit and spice: young rhubarb forms the tangy, fresh base, whilst cardamom adds a spicy, distinctive element. This variant is bottled at 22 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle.


Berliner Mumpitz represents a modern interpretation of the liqueur, which is also intended as a tribute to the wild Berlin of the 1920s. Tasting Note

Colour: Typical rhubarb hue, slightly cloudy due to the high fruit content.

Nose: Fruity and fresh with tart rhubarb, accompanied by spicy, aromatic cardamom.

Palate: Fruit-forward and pleasantly tart with rhubarb, reduced sweetness and spicy, fresh cardamom.

Finish: Spicy and fresh with woody, slightly menthol-like hints of cardamom and a lingering rhubarb flavour.

Berliner Mumpitz Rhubarb & Cardamom should be shaken well before drinking and served well chilled to ensure the high fruit content is evenly distributed. We recommend enjoying it neat as a ‘long shot’ of around 5 cl, to be sipped slowly rather than drunk as a classic shot. Alternatively, this smoothie liqueur can be mixed with tonic water or sparkling wine, making it ideal as an aperitif or sundowner. It can also be used to add a fruity, spicy note to vanilla ice cream and other ice cream creations.
