The base is a Panama Rum made from molasses, which is initially aged in ex-bourbon casks made of American oak. This is followed by the crucial final ageing stage in special casks that were previously used by Davidoff of Geneva for the fermentation and ageing of cigar leaves. It is precisely this cask treatment that clearly distinguishes this bottling from classic Panama Rums and gives it a distinct connection to the world of premium cigars. The Kuna Davidoff Cigar Cask Finish is bottled at a robust 42 per cent ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle.

The distillation of the base rum is attributed to Varela Hermanos, a long-established rum producer from Panama, known, amongst other things, for Ron Abuelo. Following the initial maturation in American oak, the Davidoff Cigar Cask Finish lends this special edition its unmistakable character. The casks used had, in fact, been in contact with Davidoff cigar leaves prior to holding the rum, which is why the name should not be viewed merely as a marketing term. Specialist retailers also point out that this original Davidoff version is no longer in production, which makes this bottling particularly appealing to collectors of exceptional rum editions. The Kuna Panama Aged Ron 42% thus combines Panamanian rum tradition, specialised cask maturation and an unusual collaboration with Davidoff of Geneva.
