The Tement Welschriesling Opok Südsteiermark DAC 2025 11 % is a characterful Welschriesling from Southern Styria; as a Südsteiermark DAC regional wine, it highlights the origin and the typical lightness of this traditional grape variety. The grapes come from biodynamically cultivated vineyards with predominantly characteristic Opok soils, whilst the vines have an average age of around 32 years. Following natural spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks for six to twelve months. This deliberately minimalist ageing process emphasises the wine’s straightforward style and preserves its terroir-driven character. The 0.75-litre bottle is sealed with a practical screw cap.


With an alcohol content of just 11 per cent, the Tement Welschriesling Opok 2025 is a light yet precisely structured Styrian white wine with a decidedly inviting drinking quality. The Tement winery aptly describes it as a ‘Wöschmeister’ and a light, top-class refresher. Its combination of a juicy structure, lively freshness and the influence of the Opok soils of southern Styria makes it a versatile wine for unpretentious moments of enjoyment and classic Styrian cuisine. It is best enjoyed within the first three years of bottling, meaning that the 2025 vintage, when drunk particularly young, showcases its lively style to the full.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Tement Welschriesling Opok Südsteiermark DAC 2025 presents itself as a pale, clear yellow with greenish highlights. On the nose, there are notes of fresh green apple and lime, accompanied by white flowers and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, the Welschriesling is light and wonderfully juicy, with a thread of acidity providing structure, tension and vibrancy. The finish is fresh, with a slightly salty character and a pleasantly invigorating quality.
