Ron Malteco 11 Años TRIPLE 1 is a full-bodied 11-year-aged rum from Panama, which is characterised in particular by its unusually high bottling strength. Its name, TRIPLE 1, refers to the 111 proof, which corresponds to an alcohol content of 55.5 per cent. Malteco is produced in Panama by Bodegas de America S.A. and subsequently marketed under the Ron Malteco brand. The rum is aged for 11 years in ex-bourbon casks made of American oak, which combines its robust core character with pronounced cask notes. Unlike many lighter-bodied rums, this variant is specifically aimed at connoisseurs of intense and high-proof spirits.

With its combination of 11 years’ ageing, ex-bourbon casks and 55.5 per cent ABV, Malteco Triple 1 occupies a special place within the range. The high alcohol content gives the rum an intense presence and brings out the fruity, sweet and spicy notes particularly clearly. The bottling is also marketed as a limited edition and contains caramel colouring to ensure a consistent colour. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Honey, vanilla and dried apricots, accompanied by plums, coffee and subtle spicy notes.

Palate: Robust, full-bodied and intense, with honey, vanilla and ripe fruit, alongside coffee, caramel and spicy nuances.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming with a hint of smoke, salty caramel and peppery spice.

Due to its 55.5% ABV, the Ron Malteco 11 Años TRIPLE 1 is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, although a few drops of still water can help to open up the intense aromas. It pairs well with dark chocolate, dried fruit or roasted nuts, which complement its sweet and spicy character. The high alcohol content can also be tempered slightly by serving it over a large ice cube. The Triple 1 can also be used in robust rum cocktails when the rum’s aroma needs to stand out clearly against the other ingredients.
