The Eldvatten Svenska Laphroaig 10 Years Old 2015 is a strictly limited-edition single cask bottling from the Scottish island of Islay, selected by the Swedish independent bottler Svenska Eldvatten. The single malt was distilled at Laphroaig on 22 September 2015 and bottled on 12 May 2026 after ten years of maturation. The whisky spent its entire maturation period in a refill bourbon cask, ensuring that the distinctive, heavily peated character of the Islay spirit remains the focal point. The single cask used bears the cask number SE171. The whisky was bottled at a robust 57.2 per cent cask strength, without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring.

This bottling is part of Svenska Eldvatten’s 5th Anniversary Cat Series and immediately stands out thanks to its distinctive Cat Label. Just 269 bottles were produced from this single refill bourbon cask, underlining the whisky’s strong collector’s appeal. As an independent Swedish bottler, Eldvatten focuses on selected single casks, which are presented as unadulterated as possible. In this 10-year-old Laphroaig single malt, classic Islay characteristics such as peaty smoke and maritime notes meet the comparatively subtle influence of a refilled bourbon cask. Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold.

Nose: Intense peat smoke, maritime salty notes and medicinal undertones, accompanied by vanilla, citrus fruits and a subtle sweetness.

Palate: Powerful, smoky and maritime, with peat, vanilla and citrus notes, complemented by spicy oak and mineral accents.

Finish: Long-lasting, intense and smoky, with peat, maritime spice, vanilla and dry oak.

The Eldvatten Laphroaig 10 Years Old 2015 should first be tasted neat at around 18–20 °C. Due to its robust 57.2% cask strength, a few drops of still water can then be added to reveal further facets of the single malt. It pairs well with smoked salmon, strong hard cheese or dark chocolate, which can stand up to the intense Islay character. With a limited run of just 269 bottles and its distinctive cat label, this bottling is also particularly suited to collectors of independent Laphroaig bottlings.
