Planteray Rum EL SALVADOR Single Cask White Muscatel Barrel 2017 47.7% vol. 0.7 l is a limited-edition single-cask bottling from El Salvador, which forms part of the exclusive Planteray Single Cask Collection 2026. This exceptional rum is produced from sugar cane molasses at the Ingenio la Cabaña Distillery, where the molasses is processed via column still distillation following a fermentation period of two to three days. The distillate is then matured for seven years under tropical conditions in ex-bourbon casks, before being stored for a further six months in Ferrand casks in France. The rum derives its distinctive character from a final 18-month finish in a White Muscatel cask. Bottled at 47.7% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box, this special edition combines Central American rum tradition with French cask maturation.

The Planteray Rum brand, formerly Plantation Rum, belongs to the French spirits house Maison Ferrand and, under the guidance of Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel, is renowned for its exceptional barrel combinations. The Planteray El Salvador 2017 White Muscatel Barrel is characterised by its three-stage maturation process, in which the final White Muscatel finish adds extra complexity. Tasting Note

Colour: Warm amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Elegant orange blossom, fragrant jasmine, ripe peach, delicate honey and fresh citrus notes.

Palate: Smooth and complex, with juicy stone fruits, sweet honey, floral Muscat notes, creamy vanilla and subtle oaky spice.

Finish: Long-lasting and harmonious, with fruity citrus nuances, delicate honeyed sweetness and an elegant woody spice.

The Planteray El Salvador 2017 White Muscatel Barrel is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, ideally in a tulip-shaped nosing glass, so that the influences of the three barrel ageing processes can unfold. A few drops of still water can further enhance the floral and fruity nuances. As a culinary accompaniment, mature Comté, mild goat’s cheese or Brie harmonise beautifully with the delicate wine and oak barrel notes.
