Rum Malecon Añejo 13 Años RARE PROOF 2009 50.5% is a powerful vintage rum from Panama that combines the elegant, Spanish-influenced rum style with a high alcohol content. Produced from molasses, this rum was distilled in 2009 and subsequently matured for 13 years in tropical conditions. It is aged in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak, which lend the spirit additional depth, spice and pronounced woody notes. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber with dark brown highlights.

Nose: Intense and complex, with dried fruit, pineapple and vanilla, accompanied by warm spices and subtle oak.

Palate: Powerful and full-bodied with tobacco, orange peel and cinnamon, complemented by soft oak notes and a delicately creamy nuance.

Finish: Long-lasting and spicy with oak, apricot and plum, as well as a pleasantly warming intensity.

Rum Malecon Añejo 13 Años RARE PROOF 2009 is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although at 50.5% a few drops of still water can bring out additional fruit and spice notes. It is also very enjoyable served over a large ice cube. It pairs well with dark chocolate, mature hard cheese, roasted nuts or hearty meat dishes that complement its spiciness and oak-aged character. Desserts featuring orange, plum, apricot or dark chocolate harmonise particularly well with its fruity and woody notes.
