The Linie Aquavit Authentic range comprises an exceptional Norwegian aquavit, renowned for its unique ageing process. With an alcohol content of 41.5% vol., it offers a perfect balance between spicy herbal notes and a smooth, mature depth. Its unique character is the result of a complex ageing process: the aquavit is first matured in oak casks that were previously used for sherry. It then embarks on a sea voyage of at least four months across the equator (‘Linie’ means ‘line of the equator’), where it is exposed to the climatic influences of fluctuations in temperature and humidity – a tradition that makes it unmistakable worldwide.

The carefully selected botanicals include caraway, star anise, coriander, fennel, and orange and lemon peel, which lend it its warm, spicy and slightly sweet notes. The cask maturation also imparts subtle notes of vanilla, wood and sherry, making it particularly smooth and harmonious.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm golden yellow.

Nose: Spicy notes of caraway and aniseed, delicate citrus freshness, subtle hints of vanilla and wood.

Palate: Smooth and full-bodied, with spicy herbs, a pleasant sweetness and a hint of sherry.

Finish: Long and smooth, with a balanced combination of herbs, vanilla and oak.

The Linie Aquavit Authentic is traditionally served slightly chilled or at room temperature to bring out its flavours to the full. It is the perfect accompaniment to Nordic dishes such as smoked fish, seafood or hearty meat dishes. It is also ideal as a digestif after a hearty meal.
