The Benriach THE SMOKY TWELVE Three Cask Matured is an exceptional Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that combines the characteristic fruitiness of Speyside with elegant peaty smoke. At 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle presented in a high-quality gift box (UK), this bottling combines both peated and unpeated new make spirit, resulting in a complex and harmonious whisky. The Benriach distillery is one of the few in Speyside that still regularly produces peated whiskies, thereby continuing the region’s historic tradition. Bottled in its natural cask colour, without any artificial colourings, this single malt offers a well-balanced blend of fruit, malt, smoke and spicy oak.


Benriach The Smoky Twelve is matured for at least twelve years in a combination of bourbon casks, sherry casks and Marsala wine casks. Following separate maturation, the whiskies from the three cask types are carefully blended together, resulting in exceptional depth and complexity. The bourbon casks impart creamy vanilla and sweet malty notes; the sherry casks provide dried fruit and a spicy depth; whilst the Marsala casks contribute fruity sweetness and elegant wine notes. Combined with the characteristic peat smoke, the result is a creamy Speyside single malt, rich in fruit, smoke and delicate spices, which impressively reflects the unmistakable style of Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie.

Tasting Note

Colour: Polished gold (natural cask colour).

Nose: Smoked vanilla, caramelised orange, toasted almonds and subtle oak notes.

Palate: Dark chocolate, candied fruit peel, brown sugar, smoked oak, sweet malt and harmonious peaty smoke.

Finish: Long-lasting with cocoa, smoked orange, spicy oak and pleasantly mellow smoke.

Its elegant blend of fruit, chocolate and peaty smoke pairs superbly with smoked duck breast, BBQ dishes, mature Cheddar, blue cheese or dark chocolate with orange zest. This smoky Speyside single malt Scotch whisky also pairs superbly with roasted almonds or desserts featuring cocoa and dried fruit.
