Patridom 12 Selección Exclusiva Spirit Drink is a premium rum-based spirit from the Dominican Republic, produced by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos. The producer grows its own sugar cane, meaning that all the raw materials used originate entirely from the Dominican Republic. The spirit is based on distillates derived from sugarcane molasses, which are matured under tropical conditions. The Selección Exclusiva is part of the Patridom Core Range, which comprises four different bottlings. Owing to its official designation as a ‘spirit drink’, the product is not classified as rum but as a rum-based spirit. This ensures a clear and legally sound distinction from traditional rum bottlings.


The Patridom Selección Exclusiva is made using distillates that are aged for between six and twelve years in the tropical climate of the Dominican Republic. The spirit is matured in both American and French oak casks, combining the distinct characteristics of the different woods. At 40 per cent ABV, the spirit is presented in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. A defining feature is the combination of Dominican sugar cane, a molasses base, long tropical ageing and two different types of oak. The age statement ‘12’ should not be taken to mean that all components are twelve years old, as the product information states that components aged for between six and twelve years are used.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Rich and inviting, with hints of warm pastries, fruit cake and custard, accompanied by generous notes of vanilla and caramel.

Palate: Full-bodied and rich with brown sugar, creamy vanilla and coconut, yet pleasantly smooth and well-balanced.

Finish: Long-lasting and harmonious with sweet notes of vanilla, caramel and subtle oak.

The Patridom 12 Selección Exclusiva Spirit Drink is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C or with a large ice cube. It pairs well with dark chocolate, fruit cakes, caramelised nuts or desserts featuring coconut and vanilla, which complement its sweet and spicy notes. This matured rum-based spirit is also ideal as a digestif after a leisurely dinner. Thanks to its gift box and ingredients matured for up to twelve years, this bottling also makes an excellent present for connoisseurs of high-quality rum-based spirits.
