The Salzl Cuvée 3-5-8 Premium 2020 is an impressive Austrian red wine from the Neusiedlersee wine-growing region in Burgenland, which is considered the true flagship of the Salzl Seewinkelhof winery. This exceptional cuvée combines Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to create a powerful, profound yet harmonious wine that epitomises the highest quality, precision and passion.


The grapes come from old vines that grow on sandy soils and black earth consisting of loamy silt with a high proportion of gravel - a terroir that enables optimum ripeness, concentration and minerality. After the harvest, the wine is gently vinified before maturing for 24 months in small oak barrels (100% new wood). This long barrel ageing gives it its dense structure, fine toasted notes and exceptional complexity. With an alcohol content of 14% vol., the Salzl Cuvée 3-5-8 Premium is a dry, perfectly balanced red wine with great ageing potential - best drunk between 2025 and 2035.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Salzl Cuvée 3-5-8 Premium 2020 presents itself in a deep, dark ruby red colour with an opaque core and a delicate violet rim. The nose reveals opulent aromas of ripe berries, dark chocolate and smoky spice notes, accompanied by hints of liquorice, black cherries, figs, orange zest and a hint of blackcurrant. The palate is dense, complex and full-bodied, with a ripe fruit bouquet, juicy tannins and elegant extract sweetness. The long finish is reminiscent of roasted plums, nougat and fine roasted flavours, accompanied by fine chocolate and wonderfully integrated fruit sweetness.

This Austrian premium red wine is the ideal accompaniment to intense meat and game dishes such as beef, lamb or venison, as well as flavoursome cheeses. Served at 16-18 °C, it reveals its full range of flavours and elegance.
