Yamazakura whiskies are produced with great care. They are distilled in copper stills and matured primarily in ex-bourbon casks, which gives the whisky its characteristic vanilla and caramel notes. The Asaka Distillery, a subsidiary of Sasanokawa Shuzo, is located in Koriyama in Fukushima Prefecture. The region offers ideal climatic conditions and pure spring water, which have a positive effect on the quality of the whisky. The distillery uses both local and imported ingredients to create whiskies with a unique profile.
