Manufacturing & Craftsmanship

Kura is based on a blend of matured malts and features peaty notes. Following an initial maturation in American oak, it undergoes a further finish in rum or sherry casks – the cool maturation enhances the depth, whilst the tropical warmth balances it out.

Region & Origin

The distillery in Okinawa is renowned for its rum, awamori and, since 1997, whisky. Kura is made from 100% malted barley, peated with peat from Hokkaido and matured in Okinawa’s high temperatures before being put into casks.
